I was born and raised in Hastings, Nebraska. I knew from the time that I was in third grade that I wanted to be a teacher. My third grade teacher Mrs. Lake inspired me to want to be a teacher. When I was in high school I was set on going to college at UNL and so when I graduated I moved to Lincoln to go to school. I have lived here ever since.

Professional Experience

In 2004 I graduated from UNL with my Bachelor's Degree. I took the first job I was offered in Seward, NE. I was ready to start teaching and to stop working at Russ's Market. I taught in Seward for 11 years. I was given the opportunity to teach in many different settings while in Seward. I worked in a Developmental Learning Classroom at the high school my first three years. Then they were in need of a teacher to work half of their day at the elementary school and the other half of their day at the high school. I took that position since I was working on my Master's Degree at the elementary level at the time. I taught reading and math to special education students in the 4th grade, and then helped students on my caseload at the high school with work so they could successfully complete their classes for graduation. When they filled a position at the elementary school I split my time between the middle school and high school. My duties at the high school stayed the same and then I taught reading to special education students at the middle school. After spliting my time between the high school and middle school for four years the middle school added a teacher so I was just full time at the high school. While at the high school I co taught in Pre-Algebra and Algebra. I assisted students the rest of my day with all of the different classes they needed for graduation. My last year in Seward they were short of help at the elementary school again so I taught 2nd grade reading for part of my day to special education students. I completed my Master's Degree in 2010. I have had many opportunities and This will be my 4th year at Southeast High School. Go Knights!
