I grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School. Even though I always enjoyed mathematics, english and Spanish classes, I didn't know I wanted to be a teacher until two things happened: 1) I took an introductory teaching course and 2) I started tutoring my two younger sisters in math.
When I took the introductory teaching course, I discovered how passionate I am about education. When assigned a four-page paper, I would often have to edit down from eight pages--I had that much to say!
When I tutored my sisters, I found different ways to approach and explain mathematical concepts. I was good at it and I enjoyed helping my sisters get to that ah-ha moment.
Even after 20 years in education, neither my passion for education nor my desire to help students get to the ah-ha moment has waned. I look forward to our time in the classroom!
