About Me

Terry R. Rush has been the Instrumental Music Director at Lincoln High School for 25 years.
Prior to teaching at Lincoln High, he was the band director at Pius X High School for five
years.


Mr. Rush has been a member of the Lincoln Symphony for 34 years and a member of the
Lincoln Municipal Band for 36 years and is currently Assistant Director of that ensemble. He
is a member of the Nebraska Music Educators Association, Nebraska State Bandmasters
Association, International Association of Jazz Educators, International Trombone Association
and Phi Beta Mu Professional Band Directors Fraternity. He has held state offices in these
associations and served on several panels and committees.


Mr. Rush is the 2006 winner of the Donald A. Lentz Outstanding Bandmasters Award
presented by the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association as well as the recipient of the
National Legion of Honor Award presented by the John Philip Sousa Foundation to five
directors across the United States as well as being selected by the School Band and
Orchestra national magazine as the Nebraska Band Director Who Makes a Difference.

His wife, Jacque is the band director at Scott Middle School. Together they have three
children. Ben who is a computer programer and designer, Stacey who is a Sergeant in the
1st Division Army Band at Fort Lewis, Washington and Robby who is a college student.
