My name is Amy Johnson. I am a kindergarten teacher at Pyrtle Elementary. I am originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I have always loved teaching and working with children and knew that was what I wanted to do once I graduated from college.

I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Inclusive Early Childhood Education. I graduated from Doane University in May 2013 with my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. I received my second Master's endorsement as a Reading Specialist in 2019, also from Doane University. I have been teaching at Pyrtle since 2010.
