My name is Chloe Meier-Bates (they/them), and I love being a part of the LHS community. My partner Sam and I have three cats named Trudy, Rado, and Stinky and a Ball Python named Mango. We live in a beautiful old home in the Near South neighborhood, so I (sometimes begrudgingly) enjoy working on home improvement projects, as well as taking care of house plants, crocheting and sewing, shopping for vintage clothing and furniture, and watching documentaries.
In addition to teaching English, I am the head coach of the LHS Speech Team and the teacher sponsor for the Slam Poetry team. I also help out with LHS Pride Club, National Honor Society, and The Advocate (our student paper). Sometimes, I even lead international trips for students!
Professional Experience
I graduated from UNL in 2018 with my B.S. in Secondary Education. I hold endorsements in English and Language Arts and English Language Learner education. My first teaching job was in a middle school teaching 5th and 7th grade English to multilingual learners in Omaha. I also taught EL Kindergarten once, for a week and a half!
