I was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. I grew up there and graduated from Lincoln High School. I attended Washington College in Chestertown, MD, for two years before transferring to the University of Nebraska of Lincoln.  While at the University of Nebraska, I was fortunate to spend a semester abroad studying at the University of Botswana-Gaborone, in Africa. It was rewarding and humbling experience. I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in Political Science with minors in Economics, International Studies, and History.  I attended Doane College's Initial Certification at the Advanced Level Program, receiving my teacher's certification while working toward my master's degree. I also have my Masters in Eduacation in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane University. I believe my unique life experiences help me connect to the students and bring in outside information to help further enrich the educational experience. I love sports, particularly soccer. I have been a soccer coach at Lincoln High School since 2010 and a football coach since 2011. I love to read, especially non-fiction. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
