About Me

Schoo Library Student Mission Statement

In the Schoo Library, I will think critically, use information ethically, and become a lifelong reader.

Schoo Library Mission Statement

The mission of the Schoo Library Program is to empower students to think critically, use information ethically, and become lifelong readers. Our mission will be accomplished through collaboration with Schoo staff.

I grew up in Iowa. After graduating from high school, I moved to Lincoln for college at UNL and have lived here ever since.

In my free time, I enjoy playing with my husband and my two kids, reading, crocheting, waterskiing, and traveling.

Professional Experience

I graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, IA.   I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and did practicum experiences at Clinton, West Lincoln, and Elliott.  My student teaching experience was at The Downtown School in Des Moines, IA.  When I graduated with a bachelor's degree in education, I worked at Humann Elementary in Special education grades PreK-2.  Then I worked for 4 years at Mickle Middle School, where I taught 6th grade language arts and Reading Ideas.

I went back to school to get my school library media endorsement and my masters of education.  I worked as the Mickle school library media specialist for three years.

In the fall of 2012, I had the opportunity to come to Schoo as the school library media specialist.  I am so happy to be here and enjoy working with your students!

I am a member of the Nebraska School Library Association, the American Association of School Libraries, and the Nebraska Educational Technology Association.
