About Me

Art has always played a large role in my educational journey and life. It has been an important and reliable outlet for me, opened doors, and has led me to have experiences I couldn't have imagined. I was lucky enough to have these experiences due to the wonderful and supportive art educators I've had in my life from the elementary to college level. The idea of being able to be in that position for students, an advocate for the arts and thinking differently, is why I am in the classroom.

I attended the University of Nebraska- Lincoln where I graduated with my BFA, Bachelors of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in ceramics. While completing my undergraduate degree I started a small pottery business. I was able to immerse myself in the local Lincoln and Omaha art communities during this time and since. Navigating the small business world opened my eyes to a completely different but important aspect of being a working artist.

After receiving my BFA from UNL I began a graduate level program at Doane University where I received my teaching certificate for art education. I went from being fully immersed in the art world to being fully immersed in the world of education. The marriage of both of these worlds is my happy place! I am in the process of receiving my masters degree from Doane University.
