Hello! My name is Alycia Jurgens. I teach all things Vocal Music at Lux Middle School. This will be my 9th year of teaching!
I grew up as an Orangemen in Beatrice, Nebraska. My passion for music began in middle school when I made it into my first Showchoir, Delegation. After this experience I continued with Choir and Band into High School. I loved performing for an audience and made so many good friends. In fact, that's where I met my Husband and High School Sweetheart, Matt. I have two beautiful daughters, Evelyn (4) and Grace (1). We also have, Eden, the most dramatic Chihuahua Dachshund Mix. I am still singing and performing whenever I can. This is most usually at a local community theater.
The Choral Directors in my life were all amazingly passionate teachers and fostered a family in their music programs. This "Music Family" is what made me want to be in school every day. Now as a Music Teacher, I hope to bring this same passion and sense of belonging to each student at Lux.
