I took a circuitous route to becoming a teacher. I worked as a professional writer, an attorney, and a non-profit executive director before I realized my calling was in Education. It's a decision that in my twenty-four years as a high-school English teacher I've never regretted once. I love the work I do and the students I teach. When I tell people I have the best job on earth, I mean it wholeheartedly.
I am a Lincoln native who continues to think that Lincoln is the best place on earth. I read voraciously, watch television obsessively, and enjoy any time I can spend laughing and talking with others. Joking and teasing are signs of affection for me, so if I make a sarcastic remark, you can generally be sure that it's because I like you!
I have written three books with two other lawyer/English teachers about the importance of using Supreme Court cases in the classroom. If you'd like to check them out, please go to my publisher's website at https://rowman.com/ and search for "Cynthia Wood Maddux."
