I am Connie Peterson, and I teach 5th grade at Morley Elementary School. I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska where I was a graduate of Lincoln Public Schools, attending Hawthorne Elementary School, Millard Lefler Junior High School, and Lincoln High School. I graduated from UNL in 1986, and I earned a Masters Degree in Historical Studies from NWU in 2013. My husband, Tony, and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary in June. Over the years we have enjoyed searching for and collecting old cars, jukeboxes, advertising signs, old glassware, and antique furniture.  We have raised two children. Our son, Andrew, graduated from UNL and now lives and works in Kansas City. His wife, Caiti, is a 5th grade teacher in Kansas. They are expecting their first baby in March!  Katelyn, our daughter, also graduated from UNL and is teaching 4th grade at Eastridge Elementary School in Lincoln. Katelyn is married to Alec Johnson and they have a 2 ½ year old son, Noah and a 4 month old daughter, Charlotte! To say that Tony and I are thrilled about our grandchildren is an understatement. Taz and Elly, our two cats, keep us entertained now that we are empty nesters!

Professional Experience

When I was a young girl, I always enjoyed “playing school” with my friends. Of course, I was always the teacher! I admired my aunt who was a teacher and loved hearing about her stories and her experiences. So, I knew that teaching would be my chosen profession. I began my teaching career in 1987 as a Special Education teacher at Lefler Middle School, teaching grades 7-9. I came to Morley in 1995 to teach one year of 6th grade before 6th grade was no longer a part of the elementary schools. I have been teaching 5th grade ever since and look forward to starting my 34th year!

It is my hope that we can work together to make this an incredible year! Please let me know if you have any concerns or questions at any time. Your patience, flexibility, and grace will be greatly appreciated!
