About Me

Many describe me as an eclectic personality with many different branches of interests. You can often find me practicing my archery abilities for target competition and hunting, working at home in my EXTENSIVE garden and preserving foods for the winter, or enjoying some downtime fishing, playing board games, or researching new science experiments to try out on my own or with my students.

Many of my formative years, and some amazing teachers during my school years, have led me to becoming a teacher and continuing to extend my own knowledge to apply in the classroom. I work to bring the idea of research in my classroom with hands-on activities, university-connection, and citizen-science opportunities.

Professional Experience

Prior to Teaching

My early years following an undergraduate degree in Biology from University of Nebraska- Lincoln, I worked for Nebraska Game and Parks Commission at the Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln as an outdoor skills educator and safety instructor. During this time, I also spent time working as a researcher in the Harold Manter Laboratory of Parasitology at Morrill Hall. I became interested in furthering my expertise as an educator and pursued my Master's of Arts in Science Teaching with endorsements in Biology and Chemistry from UNL in 2019.

Teaching Experience

During the past three years, I have worked in Omaha Public Schools teaching 6th-grade, 8th-grade and Physical Science, as well as heading the Zoo Career Pathway Honor's Program in association with Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. I am now taking a position at Lincoln Southeast High School teaching Biology and Chemistry! Go Knights!
