My name is Charissa Widman and I have been teaching since 2008. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education in 2007 and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2018. I have taught Kindergarten, first, and second grade for a total of eight years. Currently, I teach Computer Science to Kindergarten through fifth grade students. In this role, I enjoy bringing my passion and creativity into the classroom to provide a collaborative, hands-on learning experience as I teach students the literacy of the future- computer programming. I am always learning new things and it is exciting for me to try out new ideas in the classroom.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have been married to my husband Brad since July 2010. In 2016, our family traveled to Korea to adopt our son Cole when he was 18 months old. Since Cole only understood Korean, I became his one on one English teacher during his first year in our family. In addition to Korea, our family has traveled many other places, including Costa Rica, Mexico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and throughout the United States. Through our travels, we have embraced new friendships, languages, and cultural traditions, and have brought many new customs home. With each trip, we continue to learn and grow as a family and look forward to bringing home our second son from Korea in the summer of 2019! In addition to traveling, I enjoy teaching my son, cooking vegan food, reading, and making crafts.
