Daniel Iverson is from Rapid City, South Dakota. He started to play the violin at the age of 8, tuba at 10, and eventually picked up the trombone in high school. On violin, he started his own string quartet called Quartz Quartet that played around the community providing music and was a member of the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra. He was also a substitute trombonist for the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra as well as the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra and Omaha Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Iverson has worked with Larry Zalkind, Scott Hartman, and Carl Lenthe at the Mendez Brass Institute and studied with Dr. Scott Anderson, Dr. Johnathan Alvis, Dr. Randy Kolhenberg, Allen Barnhill, and Doug Wright. In addition, he was selected to perform at the International Trombone Festival with a trombone ensemble directed by Denson Paul Pollard.

Mr. Iverson was hired by Lincoln Public Schools as a local substitute teacher during his final semester student teaching at Lincoln Southeast High School. After his student teaching, he was hired by LPS as a band/string itinerant.  He has volunteered at Lincoln Southeast High School in 2019 to assist them with Solo/Small Ensemble Contest as well as Large Group Contest. He has also worked as a camp counselor at the University’s two music camps, the Middle School Band Camp and the High School Marching Camp. While at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Mr. Iverson was a member of all of the top instrumental ensembles including the wind ensemble, symphony orchestra, and jazz orchestra. He also was a member of the Cornhusker Marching Band where he was on the leadership team for three years and was awarded the Russ Swanson Outstanding Bandsmen Award in 2020. During his summers, he is taking classes to receive his master’s degree in music education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

While Mr. Iverson enjoys camping, hiking, and biking, he tends to spend all of his time outside of work with his two dogs, Spartacus and Leonidas (Leo). Together, they are happy being active outside or staying in to watch scary movies.

Since 2020, He has taught at Beattie and Everett Elementary schools, Moore Middle School, and Lincoln High School.

Mr. Iverson is currently the Orchestra Director and Assistant Band Director at Lincoln North Star High School. In addition to North Star, he is also an Adjunct Instructor in Music at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
