I have had a passion for science ever since childhood. The spark that started this interest was watching science shows and reading science books with my mother when growing up. This introduced me to astronomy and physics which were two things that would shape my future. This passion for these two subjects lead to obtaining a bachelors in physics with an emphasis in astronomy at UNL.
During that time however, I became an teaching assistant for the introductory astronomy course and did science outreach. This introduced to the realm of teaching which I loved. With this interest, I obtained a masters in education at UNL and now currently pursuing a PhD in Education.
Overall, I have chosen to become an educator because I believe all people should have access to learning science to fulfill our natural curiosity. We learn something new every day and it is my job to inspire the students to become life-long learners, always searching for new ways to analyze their surrondings.
