I was born in San Antonio and grew up an Air Force Brat. We lived in Texas, Hawaii, Washington, Mississippi, Colorado and finally settled in Kentucky where I graduated from Lafayette High School in Lexington. I attended the University of Kentucky where I met my future husband in the marching band and we traveled between Kentucky and Ohio for the next 20 years. I graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Music Education and have my Orff Level 1 from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. We have three sons, Aaron, David and Tyler and daughter-in-laws Stephanie and Lauren. We moved to Nebraska in 2000 for my husband to go back to school and loved it so much that we stayed!
I am very active in all aspects of music education, serving on the board of the Nebraskans for the Arts and on the state Music Educators Association for the past 12 years as PR Chair and President where I continue to work on providing workshops for teachers throughout the state. I have had the priviledge to speak before state and national representatives about the importance of music education for all children as part of the education of the whole child.
