About Me

As a resource teacher, I provide extra support and specific learning for students with exceptional needs so they are able to be successful throughout the school day.  These services are delivered in the classroom, in the resource room, one on one or in small groups.  I work with all teachers in the building to make accommodations and create programs that help students be successful academically, socially and with their behaviors.

The LEAP room is a place where students who are struggling in the classroom go to calm down, regroup, or take a break so they can return quickly to the classroom and join instruction.  If it is in the students' plan to use the LEAP room, they have the opportunity to ask to go or an adult may ask them to go.  When an adult asks the student to go to the LEAP room, there is a process they must follow.  This process includes, calming down, raising their hand to ask for a task to complete, filling out a form about what the problem was and what they will change when the next time the incident happens, processing with an adult and then returning to the classroom.

I was born and raised in Lincoln, graduating from Lincoln Northeast.  I am the youngest of seven children and love to spend time with my family and friends.  I have played softball since I was eight and continue to play every summer.  I also love to attend a variety of concerts.  I have fun watching football and my favorite sport is baseball (Go Cubs).  I have also recently started to learn to play golf.  I have two dogs (Charlie and Gracie) and one cat (Hank).  I am training Gracie to be able to come to school with me on a regular basis.

Professional Experience

I received my bachelor's degree in elementary and special eduation from Nebraska Wesleyan and received a master's degree in literacy and with an endorsement from Concordia. I began working in Lincoln Public schools in 1998.  I've also taught in a junior high for a year in Casper, Wyoming.  In Lincoln, I have worked at two other schools besides Norwood Park.
