About Me

Hello! My name is Joni Rouse. I am in my 27th year as a Early Childhood Special Education Teacher in Lincoln Public Schools, and I am excited to serve the Early Childhood classrooms at Hartley and Meadow Lane Elementary Schools.

I am married and have 2 children named: Lexi and Dillon.  We have 2 chocolate labs named Kona and Remi.  I was born and raised in Lincoln.  Some things I like to do when I have spare time is to take my dogs for a walk, spend time with my family and read.

Professional Experience

I have spent my entire teaching career with Lincoln Public Schools.  The nature of my job gives me the opportunity to be at a variety of schools.  Some of the elementary schools I have taught at are Everett, Clinton, Beattie, Elliott, Riley, Brownell and currently with Hartley and Meadow Lane.

 My philosophy of teaching is….

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially.

I believe that children can learn through play, interacting with others, their experiences, and hands-on learning activities.  I believe that play is essential and should be fun, exciting, spontaneous, hands-on, comforting and challenging. I recognize individual strengths and weaknesses in each child and encourage each child’s growth.  I support the development of the whole child and provide opportunities for learning which facilitate the child’s cognitive, emotional, communicative and motor development.
