About Me

Reading Recovery is a highly effective short-term reading intervention that is only offered to a few first graders.  The intervention involves intensive one-to-one lessons for 30 minutes a day with a specially trained reading teacher.  This intervention typically lasts between 12 to 20 weeks.

Reading Recovery students receive a 30 minute lesson daily.

I was a Cavett parent for several years before I became a staff member, so this school is near and dear to my heart.  My father was a teacher and I always knew that I wanted to teach.  My oldest daughter is a Graduate Assistant at Midland University, coaching the Women's basketball team and working on her Master's degree.  My youngest daughter is attending Doane University to become a teacher.  Teaching is an amazing profession!

Professional Experience

I have had the pleasure of teaching Reading Recovery at Eastridge and Cavett, for the past fifteen years.  It is exciting to observe students while they learn to enjoy reading and develop the skills to be successful readers and writers!  I've also taught in the classroom, teaching kindergarten, first and second grades.  I am thankful for the opportunity to teach reading all day at Cavett, while working with my intervention groups.
