About Me

If you would like to talk with Mrs. Meter, the best way to contact her is via email. kmeter@lps.org

Mrs. Meter grew up in Lincoln and is married to Mr. Meter, math teacher at East High School. They have twin daughters, Elena and Allie. Mrs. Meter has a big extended family, many of whom live in town.

Mrs. Meter fell in love with music at an early age. Sharing her love of music quickly became a passion, whether she's making the music or talking about music. Her philosophy on teaching music is simply to create awareness and opportunity to explore what music can provide to your student- whether it's a creative outlet, a method of expression, or to develop a well-rounded and cultured student.

Professional Experience

Mrs. Meter is a graduate of Lincoln Public Schools. She attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA. Graduating in 2013, Mrs. Meter gained degrees in Music Education and Vocal Performance. During her collegiate career, Mrs. Meter participated in and assisted in directing Concert Choir, Jazz Choir, and Chamber Choir. She also had roles in teaching private voice lessons, acting as counselor for Iowa All-State Camps (grades 9-12) and Show Choir Camps (grades 5-12) for 5 years. When the Concert Choir toured Europe, Mrs. Meter went with them- directing two songs and performing a solo for another. She also had the pleasure to participate in an intership working with 4th-10th grade students in Hawaii in musical theatre, girls choir, and boys choir- as well as the 4-H music program.

Since then, Mrs. Meter has taught middle school choir in Iowa and has taught K-5 music at Eastridge Elementary in LPS. She is thrilled to be at Maxey Elementary this fall (2020)!
