About Me

Welcome

Welcome to the Lincoln Public Schools Preschool Program!

Lincoln Public Schools Preschool Program offers many different learning opportunities. In inclusive classroom settings each class provides active learning, adult-child interactions, a safe and engaging learning environment, daily routines and child assessment. Each child learns through a variety of developmentally appropriate activities in the classroom and during home visits.

Curriculum Information

Creative Curriculum® for Preschool is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning.  Creative Curriculum for Preschool is based on five fundamental principles:

Positive interactions and relationships with adults provide a critical foundation for successful learning.

Social–emotional competence is a significant factor in school success.

Constructive, purposeful play supports essential learning.

The physical environment affects the type and quality of learning interactions.

Teacher–family partnerships promote development and learning

Second Step is the Social Emotional Learning Curriculum. This curriculum helps preschoolers:

Learn social skills

Build friendships

Develop problem solving abilities

Foster independence and self-control

The Early Childhood Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for Behavior (MTSS-B) provides a framework of evidence-based practices that promote young children's social emotional competence, and prevents and addresses challenging behaviors. The supports include: high quality learning environments that have positive behavior expectations and predictable routines; the intentional teaching of social-emotional strategies; and individualized interventions for children who needs positive behavior support plan.

PLC Days -- No PRESCHOOL

There is no preschool on PLC days. If your school age children have an early release day, note that your preschooler does not have school. This occurs every last Tuesday of the month.

Always refer to the LPS Early Childhood Preschool Calendar 2020-2021 for the complete list of dates on which preschool will not be in session.

About ME

My name is Laura Safarik.  This is my second year as a Family Educator for Lincoln Public Schools.  I am the AM Family Educator at Clinton Elementary.  I previously worked as the full day early childhood para at Clinton for a year and a half.  I could not be happier with my position because it allows me to not only work closely with the children, but with the families as well.  The positive impacts that a quality preschool has on children later in their lives is very significant and it is my mission to provide that for every child I work with.  I have a strong belief that children can succeed at anything if all the adults in their lives work together for the best interest of the child.

Working with preschool children and their families is something I have always known I want to do.  I come from a family of educators, so it was something I was drawn to early in my highschool years.  I love being outdoors so anything active that I can do outside is probably on my likes list.  My family is extremely important to me and spending time with them is one of my favorite things to do.
