About Me

What's the point of school anyway?

The best way to learn is to play and explore and go after your dreams. School is a tool you use on the way to your dreams, a place that opens your mind to new experiences and gives you a safe space to form yourself into who you want to be. Find your passion and use school to change the world

"Be the change you wish in the world." (Mahatma Gandhi)

Humans literally just made up all these systems that exist in our society right now. So humans can change them. You have the power to change the world just by living your life with love towards others. It can be hard when life has been hard to you but if you want a world of love and kindness, it has to start somewhere, with one person - you.

If it ever feels overwhelming and you feel powerless, let Disney inspire you:

Raya: "The world is broken; you can't trust anyone."

Sisu: "Maybe it's broken because you don't trust anyone. You just have to take the first step."

I am also the head of our school's Green Team, which promotes environmental sustainability and is a leader in the district in this. We meet every (non-PLC) Tuesday!

(Maiden name: Bradaric)

This is my 9th year teaching at Park, which is a special school that feels like a family. It truly is a COMMUNITY where everyone - admin, teachers, custodians, etc. - is equally important and valued. There is never a shortage of warm smiles and offers of help. It is a wonderful building!

My teaching style is "play." Research shows that playing is how humans naturally learn. With a mix of Montessori, self-paced Modern Classroom, and a lot of investigations, students have the freedom to explore their passions as I use science to guide them through the skills and knowledge they need to build a strong foundation for their future. (Currently our district is using the science curriculum called OpenSciEd.)

A quick snapshot of me, personally: Came to Nebraska as a refugee from Bosnia when I was 8. Loved astronomy and got my degree in Physics & Astronomy. Pivoted and moved my life to Boston to get a Master's in Science Education and become a teacher. Moved back home and have been teaching ever since! Outside of work, my favorite thing to do is enjoy time with my husband and our 2 silly kids by playing outside or exploring community events around town.
