My name is Megan Danielson. I am certified to teach K-12 Special Education. I am in my 13th year of teaching Special Education here at Brownell.
I am originally from Ogallala, NE; Lake McConaughy area. I went to a country school where I had only three other classmates. I attended Doane College for my undergraduate degree, and earned my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction in May 2010 through Doane as well.
I keep myself busy by taking care of my son, Elliot, and my daughter, Charlotte, reading, doing house / craft projects, watching movies, and spending as much time as possible with my family.
Professional Experience
In my Resource room, I teach both Reading, Writing, and Math. I also work with students with high-needs that require a very individualized curriculum throughout the day.
In Reading and Writing, I supplement the classroom curriculum by helping my students through stories that align with the Wonders curriculum. I introduce vocabulary, create activities for the students to practice the same skills as their peers, and focus on decoding and comprehension strategies.
In Math, I also follow along with the classroom teachers and support their efforts on grade-level essential outcomes. We also emphasize real-word math skills such as time, money, and the basic operations.
