My name is Melissa Hartter, and I am the instructional coach and gifted facilitator at Lakeview. I get the opportunity to work side-by-side with teachers and help them implement research based instructional strategies as well as introduce new technology. I also help teachers plan and organize instruction for our gifted students.
I graduated from Baker University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. I began my teaching career in Paola, KS in 4th grade. After teaching 4th grade for a few years, I switched to 2nd grade until I began staying home with my son, Carson. I continued to stay at home until my kids were both in school full-time. After moving to Lincoln in 2005, I began substituting in for a few years before accepting a teaching position at Maxey Elementary in Kindergarten. I then took a part-time position teaching reading recovery and enjoyed that position for several years before becoming an instructional coach at Lakeview. I love what I do, and feel fortunate to work with a great group of teachers every day!
