Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is MiKayla Jansen and I am extremely excited to begin my fifth year of teaching at Roper Elementary. I taught second grade for 3 years and started teaching fourth grade last year. Unfortunately, summer is over and it is time to come back to school! I hope you and your family enjoyed your summer break as much as I enjoyed mine! This summer I enjoyed visiting the ocean in Texas with my husband Ben, going on daily walks with our miniature goldendoodle Einstein, and preparing our house for the arrival of our daughter who is due October 1st!
For those of you who don't know me, I am a big Doane University fan! I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Special Education in 2014 and graduated with my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2016 at Doane. I even got married on Doane's beautiful campus last summer!
I grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska and was lucky enough to be raised by my parents, who are both wonderful educators. As a little girl, I was surrounded by my parents’ love and passion for teaching. I believe this helped me develop my passion to become an elementary educator.
I believe in assessing my students in a variety of ways because not every student learns the same way. I also believe in encouraging your child to take risks and make mistakes so they can learn from them. Most importantly, I want to create a safe and open classroom environment where your child can comfortably learn.
Please keep in mind that you are always welcome in my classroom. Together, we can make your child’s educational journey positive and successful! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email or call me at school. I look forward to partnering with you and watching your child grow this year!
