About Me

**My mission is to live each day inspiring others to believe they have the power to live their dreams. **

Welcome to Irving Middle School! I am so excited to serve as a member of the administration team at Irving and feel as though it is a  tremendous honor to work with Irving students, families, staff and community stakeholders.  I enjoy my job each and every day and feel passionate about ensuring that all students feel as though they belong to our school community, feel good about who they are and all they can accomplish.

A little about me:  I grew up in Richland, Nebraska and attended high school at Schuyler Central High in Schuyler, Nebraska. After graduating, I moved to Bozeman, Montana to attend school at Montana State University where I earned my bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I then had the opportunity to move to Boston, Massachusetts where I not only was a waitress at a fabulous sushi restaurant, but also had my first teaching experience at a wonderful non-profit organization called the New England Home for Little Wanderers which is a residential/treatment center for elmentary and middle school age children. As well as teaching in Boston for 3 years, I was also recruited to teach in New Orleans, Louisiana for a year where I taught 7th and 8th grade Social Studies in New Orleans Public Schools.  As much as I enjoyed my time as a classroom teacher, I was thrilled to move back to Nebraska in order to be closer to my extended family and to attend graduate school.  I earned my masters degree in community/school counseling from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007. I began my career in Lincoln Public Schools as a middle school counselor. I worked at Charles Culler Middle School for 2 years and then was a counselor at Schoo Middle School for 5 years.  In May 2015, I graduated from the Educational Leadership Program at Doane University with an additional masters degree in administration/school leadership. I have served in the role of Instructional Coordinator at Irving for 2 years and am now so excited to have the opportunity to continue to work with students, families and staff as the Associate Principal.

In addition to my 'work life,' I also have 3 beautiful children (Josie, Ruby & Marcus) and a fantastic husband (Herb). I love to spend time with my family and friends, enjoy reading, writing, watching movies and love to bake (especially cookies!). I run every single morning (yes, even in the winter) with our family dog, Bruno.  In addition, I really like to travel, to spend time in the great outdoors, love basketball (Go Spurs!) and have become a reluctant fan of the world of soccer.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time.
