About Me

Head Coach Salem is a State Champion coach in his 17th year leading the LSW cross country program. He is a KFOR Girls XC Coach of the Year (2013) and USTFCCA Boys XC Coach of the Year (2019). His 2013 Girls team and 2019 Boys team both won Nebraska Class A State Championships. In addition, the Southwest Boys were State Runners-Up in 2017. LSW has won 16 combined City Championships under Coach Salem’s guidance, including winning 4 consecutive city titles from 2010-2013 and again from 2016-2019 with the boys varsity. Prior to the 2009 season, Coach Salem served as the Varsity Assistant at Lincoln Southwest for six seasons.

Coach Salem is an NCAA Div. III All-American in Cross Country (Nebraska Wesleyan Univ, 1997) and has experience coaching at the college and high school levels. While a high school runner under Dr. Ted Larson in Lincoln, Coach Salem was part of two state championship teams, finishing 18th and 11th individually as a junior and senior at the Nebraska Class A State Meet.  His 1992 State championship team still holds the Class A Nebraska State Meet Record for lowest total team points with 21.

Coach Salem is a Brooks ID Coach and competes in local and regional masters running events with the Lincoln Running Co. Racing Team.  He has been married for 25 years to his wife, Lindsay, and is the proud father of three children, Keira (18) and Grayson (15) and Gem (12).
