I was born on Fort Riley in Kansas, but have lived in Nebraska for most of my life. I went to Arnold Elementary, Goodrich Middle School, and graduated from Lincoln High in 1993. My wife Aly and I have a daughter, Owynn, and a son, Ezra. In my free time, I enjoy walking, biking, reading, singing, playing guitar, writing songs, and any kind of performing. I am pretty involved with my church and local theatre. I am proud to work for Lincoln Public Schools, and excited to continue to learn and grow at Roper Elementary School!
I graduated from UNL with my Elementary Teacing Certificate in May of 2000. I taught at Roper from August of 2000 until the 2015-16 School year, and served as the Instructional Technology Coach at Prescott and Hill Elementary School for the 2016-2017 school year. I graduated in December of 2011 with a masters' degree in educational administration from UNL and a I hold a Nebraska Administrative Certificate. In the spring of 2017, my family and I made a move to Sutton, Nebraska, where I served as the Elementary Principal and District Special Education Director for Sutton Public Schools. During my time in Sutton, I completed course work to add an endorsement in special education to my Nebraska Administrative Certificate. I am currently attending classes at Doane University to earn a degree and Certification as an Educational Specialist, and will follow that with completion of the Doane Doctorate in Education program to become the first Dr. Carlson in my family!
I am THRILLED to be back in LPS and Roper Elementary School! GO ROCKETS!
