Below is some general information in regards to our kindergarten curriculum.
• Math: Number sense: identifying numbers 0-30+, writing numbers 0-30+ and counting number 0-30+, ABC Patterns, Sorting using two or more attributes, Counting by 10’s, 5's and 2's, Recognizing Coins: Penny, Nickel, Dime and their Values, Addition and Subtraction.
• Language Arts/Writing: Letter and Sound Identification, Blending/Segmenting Words, Beginning Sounds, Rhyming, Onset/Rimes, Dictation, High Frequency Words, Guided Reading Books, Writing three page stories using: capitals, space, punctuation, high frequency words and details.
• Intergrated Studies:
Science-Seasons, Garbology, Weather and Seasons, Weather and Sun, Plants
Social Studies-My Country & Me, People & Celebrations, Going Places, Where We Live
Health-School Safety, Drug Safety, Body Basics, Food Facts
Skills for growing-Building a School Community, Growing Up Drug, Growing As a Group, Positive Decisions, Celebrating You & Me
• Technology: manipulating the mouse or finger pad, turning on/off computers/laptops, navigating the Internet, and choosing the best software for a task, manipulating education software, pre-teach, drill and practice of academic skills.
My name is Tammie Painter. I am a Kindergarten teacher at Pyrtle Elementary School. I have an Elementary Education and Early Childhood Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I received my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College, December of 2011.
I have taught at Eastridge Elementary, Pershing Elementary, McPhee Elementary, Calvert Elementary and I am currently at Pyrtle Elementary. I have taught Second Grade, CLC Kindergarten Wrap-Around program through Parks and Recreation, Reading Recovery, and Kindergarten. Prior to teaching at Pyrtle, I taught Kindergarten at Eastridge Elementary and Pershing. I worked in the private sector of Education for 9 years in Colorado before coming to Lincoln Public Schools in 2000.
