My classroom atmosphere is different from most in that students work in partnerships and groups. I encourage creativeness and individuality on projects as there is no instruction booklet to guide students from step 1 to step 2, etc. Instead, students use the Engineering Design Process. This process is a loop of steps to identify a problem, brainstorm solutions, develop a plan, create a prototype, test that prototype, then communicate the results of what went right and more importantly, how it can be improved.
Since 2008 I've been educating students through hands on projects, problem-solving and learning through trial and error (where the real learning takes place).
