About Me

My job as the school psychologist is to help support teachers, parents and families.  This may include conducting evaluations for special education services, supporting a student through individual or small group meetings, faciliitating small group social skills and providing intervention ideas to teachers and families.

My name is Wendy Morrissey and I am the School Psychologist for Norwood Park Elementary.  I am a lifelong Lincoln resident attending school at St. Patrick's Elementary, Dawes Middle School and Lincoln Northeast High School.  After High School I attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where I majored in Psychology and minored in Biology and Spanish.  I then went on to earn my Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and began working for Lincoln Public Schools in 2001.

In my spare time I love music and enjoy singing at church and singing as a member of Lincoln Choral Artists.  I am a huge Chicago Cubs fan and was so excited when they won the World Series in 2016.  Now I don't have to say "Maybe Next Year."

I enjoy spending time with my family.  My husband John and I were married in 2009 and live in Lincoln.  We have a daughter, Savahanna, who graduated from Lincoln North Star High School this past year.  She is a great violin player and  has just started college at Southeast Community college.  In June we adopted a beautiful 8 year old named Riley.  She is in 3rd grade  and loves to play and do Karate.  My husband and I also have enjoyed hosting foreign exchange students and are excited to host Pat from Thailand this year.

Professional Experience

I have spent my entire career with the Lincoln Public Schools.  As an Intern I worked at Fredstrom Elementary School and was also part of the Child Study team, which focuses on Early Childhool screening for children ages birth to five.  After finishing my internship I was hired as a full time employee for LPS.  During my career I have had the opportunity to serve Dawes Middle School, Brownell Elementary, Randolph Elementary, the Middle and High School Expelled Student Program, Bryan Learning Center, Beattie, Riley, Clinton and now Norwood Park.   I am also a member of the District's crisis response team.

I am a member of the Nebraska School Psychology Association and the National Association of School Psychologists and enjoy attending conventions to learn more about working with the needs of our students.  I have a special interest in trauma informed care and crisis management and response.
